Beiwen Zhang Forced To Leave Tokyo Olympics Match Midway Owing To Injury

Beiwen Zhang ended up with an injury during her round of 16 clash against China’s He Bing Jiao at the Tokyo Olympics

She is suffering from an Achilles tendon injury and was seen crying after leaving the match in the middle.

The Olympic journey of American badminton player Beiwen Zhang has come to a disappointing end as her injury has forced her to opt out of the singles campaign and that too midway of the second set. Zhang’s opting out has brought an end to US’s participation in the Tokyo Olympics.

Beiwen Zhang opts out of Tokyo Olympics due to injury

As far as her performance is concerned, Zhang has never lost a match against China’s He Bing Jiao, during the Tokyo Olympics games. The World No.11 player had won both against Ukraine’s Maria Ultina and Brazil’s Fabiana Silva by 2-0.

She injured her Achilles tendon during the round of 16 clash against He Bing Jiao. She was seen crying after making that awkward landing and then she was taken off the court on a wheelchair. She was dominating the game by 1-0 and was also leading the first game by 21-14 and was just lagging behind by 9-7 in the seconf game.

Beiwen Zhang’s performance in the Olympics

She had won the first round against Ukraine’s Maria Ultina and had thanked those who always  supported her. During a recent interview with the USA badminton official website, she said, “I am really happy that they are supporting me because I have  been supporting U.S. for 8 years now and they are always sending me messages wherever I am.”

She further said, “They are always really supportive and positive, so obviously I am really glad that they help me so much and are supporting me all the time even when I am down or up.”

Beiwen Zhang achievements And Awards

She hasn’t really won a medal in the Olympics yet and this was her debut Olympics. She has done extremely well for herself in the BWF tournament. The American Badminton player had created a record in the singles competition of 4-2 in March this year, and had also maintained a top 10 ranking in the BWF tournament.
