The BCCI is re-thinking about the Indian cricket team bio bubble break. Indian players have a 5-week break before the England vs India series starts from the 4th of August
After the conclusion of the World Test Championship 2019-2021, the Indian cricket team is scheduled to play a 5-match test series against England. The first match of the series will be played from the 4th of August 2021. This means that the Indian players have free time of 5-weeks before the series starts.
The Indian players were to go on a vacation for a couple of weeks. They were given the luxury of traveling but have to report back immediately if called upon. But there may be changes in this vacation of Virat Kohli and his men due to the hike in covid-19 cases in the United Kingdom.
Changes can be made to the Indian Cricket Team Bio Bubble Break Ahead Of England vs India
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is re-thinking about team India’s break from the bio-bubble. There has been a rise in the covid-19 cases in the United Kingdom. The UK has seen a rise in the covid cases from an average of 5000 cases a week to an average of 10000 cases in the last couple of weeks.
It has also affected the Euro 2020 semi-finals and final at the Wembley stadium. Although UEFA has said it will go as planned as there no major change in the situation.
BCCI Treasurer Arun Dhumal said that the BCCI is monitoring the situation and will call on this accordingly. “We are monitoring the situation and if the condition worsens, we will take a call accordingly, We haven’t taken a final call on it yet.”, he said to InsideSport.co.
The BCCI can ask the players to stay in the bubble or they can be moved to any other country in Europe for the time being considering the fact that the 5-match test series is at the stake here.
BCCI also had to negotiate for a soft quarantine for the players and their families before the Indian contingent landed in the UK. The Indian cricket team will play two intra-squad games after their vacation.
