Huw Edwards is the well-known host of BBC’s Ten O’ Clock news

Since the news spread on social media, there has been a lot of talk about what it means. On Sunday, July 9, a supposed Snapchat video of Huw Edwards showing his b*ttocks was viral, which made people think that the unnamed BBC presenter involved in the incident is him.

61-year-old Since 1984, Huw Edwards has worked for the BBC. He started as a student in news and later became the BBC Wales Parliamentary Correspondent. He was the host of BBC Six O’clock News from 1994 to January 2003.

Later, Huw Edwards became the main host of the BBC Ten O’clock News. Since then, he has become a well-known name because he has kept the job.

When the BBC scandal broke last week, the names of top male BBC hosts were talked about on social media. Huw Edwards and some of his other well-known male friends have been looked at closely. So far, Jeremy Vine, Gary Lineker, and Rylan Clark have all gone on record to say that they have nothing to do with the incident.

What is the BBC host incident?

Mid-May, the victim’s mother is said to have gone to the BBC and told them that a reporter from the news station was taking advantage of her teen by giving them money (so far, up to 35,000 pounds).

In the Sun article, she even said that the presenter had asked her teen to send him n*de photos and even do s*x over video calls. The said affair started when the young person involved was 17 years old, in the year 2020. Her complaint also stated how her child used the money for drug abuse, according to the report by The Sun.

BBC did not take any action against the accused broadcaster, which is a shame. In fact, he stayed on the air until July 5, and he and his partners even went to a high-profile awards ceremony during that time. But the mother told The Sun about what happened last week. She told the news outlet that she had seen her child take off their pants in front of a BBC executive.

“I blame this BBC man for destroying my child’s life and taking my child’s innocence and handing over the money for crack cocaine that could kill my child,” she said.

She also mentioned that she never wanted an investigation but just for the BBC presenter to stop. But she was forced to go to the press as she felt the BBC was “not acting fast enough on her allegations.”

Neither the person who made the complaint nor The Sun named the person. After the news spread, the Metropolitan police got involved last Friday, July 7. Their spokesperson said that they hadn’t gotten an official accusation yet, but that they were talking to both the BBC and the victim’s mother.

New Rulings on pre-charge anonymity and age restriction

The latest Supreme Court decision in the UK says that people who are being investigated by government agencies shouldn’t be named before they are charged, because it could hurt their image unfairly. Also, the age of permission in the UK is 16, but you have to be at least 18 to send or receive photos.

As of July 6, it is said that the worried BBC host has been suspended. So far, though, there has been no proof of this. BBC, on the other hand, has said that a serious and full-scale probe is going on.

On 10th July, a lawyer defending the young person told the BBC that the claims made by the mother were “rubbish”. According to the BBC, police are looking into the claims and asking questions to see if there is proof of a crime.
