But there are some key structural rules that distinguish the two. Let’s start with the 3×3 Basket fundamentals, according to FIBA.
• Court And Ball Size
3×3 Basket is played on a halfcourt with only one basket at one end and a end line to the other. The classic basketball playing surface in the official competitions is approximately (28mX15m) with two baskets at both ends.

The regular space used on official 3×3 tournaments is 11m long and 15m wide. The playing area is divided by a semi-circular arch, drawn at a radius of about 6.75 m from the basket which includes a point area and a two-point area.
It has a rectangular zone (5.8 mx4.9m) under the basket called the key and includes the free throw line that is drawn outside the baseline of the key.
A size 6 ball with a size 7 weight is used in a 3×3 basketball game.
• Teams
The game of 3×3 basketball is played between two teams, comprising 3 players in each team with the allowance of only one substitution on the bench.
• How a 3×3 Basketball game is played?
The game starts with a toss, to determine which team will start with the first possession. Possession passes from one team to another after each basket, whether it is a successful goal on the court or an unsuccessful attempt. The defensive team may also gain possession by a defensive flight, block or rebound. Possession can also be surrendered in case of violation.
Once a player takes control of the ball within the bow, they must dribble it or pass it to a teammate off the bow before they get a shot. The ball may be moved inside and outside the court through passes or dribbles.
• 3×3 ball shooting clock Rules
Like traditional basketball, there is also a stopwatch that determines a fixed time in which the offensive team has to attempt a shot after taking possession.
In 3×3 basketball, it’s only 12 seconds – half of the 24 seconds allowed in normal basketball.

The basic concept of the game is the same as regular basketball. The offensive team tries to score points by placing the ball inside the hoop at the top, while the defence team tries to stop it.
• How points are rewarded in a 3×3 Basketball Game?
In 3×3 basketball, teams can earn points in two ways – by scoring goals on the court, or by shooting free throws. A goal on the court can get two points or a point.
• Two-Point Shot: Shoot and score a goal on the pitch from anywhere outside the arc line or two-point area wins the team two points. These are called 2-pointers.
• One Point Shot: If a goal on the field is scored from within the arc or area to a point, it is worth only one point.
Free throws during the game rewards one point each
• Free Throws: Awarded as a result of offences committed by opposition players, free throws allow the offensive player to draw the hoop unhindered beyond the free throw line.
• A FIBA sanctioned 3×3 basketball game is played within a single 10-minute period. • The first team with 21 points wins the game immediately. If neither team hits the threshold, the team with more points at the end of the 10 minutes wins.
• If the score is equal to the end of regulation time, overtime takes effect with the side that started the game as the defensive team get the first possession.
• The first team to score a deuce in overtime wins the competition.
• If a team is at 20 points at the end of regulation time, scoring an extra point in overtime will allow them to win the match. • As a result, 21 is the maximum number of points a team can score in a 3×3 basketball game.
