“The PGA Tour family mourns the terrible passing of three-time TOUR winner Bart Bryant,” the organization stated in a statement released today through Twitter.
Bryant and his wife Donna were in a white SUV along State Route 33 in central Florida when their car, which was stalled in traffic due to road construction, was rear-ended by a pick-up truck moving at 60 mph, according to Florida’s WFLA. Police are looking into why the truck’s 21-year-old driver, who was not hurt, failed to come to a halt.

Bryant and his wife Donna were waiting in a white Volkswagen SUV while construction employees with flags, cones, and signs slowed traffic in both directions, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say a black 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Mark Farkas, 21, of Clermont, failed to stop and smashed into the rear of the SUV at about 60 mph.
When first responders came, they discovered Bryant, who was 59 years old, unconscious and began CPR immediately, which lasted until Bryant arrived at the local hospital. Donna Bryant, Bryant’s wife, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Farkas was unharmed in the incident.
Bryant, a resident of Auburndale, Florida, was found lifeless when first responders arrived. Donna Bryant received only minor injuries and died after being transferred to a local hospital.
Early Life & Carrer:
Bryant began his professional golf career in 1986 and, at the age of 41, won the Texas Open in 2004. He won the Memorial Tournament and the Tour Championship the following year, defeating Tiger Woods in the latter. Bryant competed in 317 events on the PGA Tour.
They also won in the PGA TOUR Champions. Brad clinched the 2007 U.S. Senior Open, while Bart won the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open in both 2013 and 2018. In the 2013 Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf, Bart won the Raphael Division alongside Ian Baker-Finch.
Bart Bryant only finished in the top ten on the TOUR seven more times after his breakout year in 2005. As the ailments that had delayed his success rapidly stole it away. In 2006, he finished second to Jim Furyk at the RBC Canadian Open, and in 2008. He finished second to Woods at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, which was Woods’ sixth consecutive triumph on the PGA Tour. To do so, Woods needed to sink a 24-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole.
The 59 year old’s net worth stood at $15 million.
