The match between football clubs namely Luton Town and Birmingham City saw Birmingham defeat their opponents 3-0. The game moved ahead amid fan protests.

Tributes have been paid to a “true Hatter”, a Luton Town fan, who died following an illness minutes before he could watch the match while he was at Birmingham for the Hatters game.

The club also released a statement saying, “We are so saddened to learn that we have lost a fellow Hatter who suffered a cardiac arrest in the Cricketers Arms pub before the game at Birmingham today.”

Birmingham City also released a statement in which they wrote that they are saddened about the incident and their thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends suffering because of the tragedy.

Many more paid tribute to their fellow supporter.

Fellow fans said: “I loved Barry, such a character – lovely man, lovely family. RIP thinking of you all.”

Another said: “Thinking of you all so much . Sending you all so much love and support . Barry was one in a million and will be so missed by many.”

Who was Barry Lake and his cause of death?

Barry Lake was a proud and huge supporter of the Luton Town FC club who died of a cardiac arrest before the match against Birmingham City FC at the Cricketers Arms pub. His death was confirmed by his favourite club first.

The officers and the paramedics at the incident place tried to save him with their best efforts but couldn’t save him. While there is no idea of his date of birth, he is believed to have been aged 60-70 years.

Barry Lake And His Family

There is no information about his family but the media has come to know about his daughter who replied to a Facebook post of the Luton Town Football Club’s post sending condolences to her father. The post alps tell that Barry was married and was a granddad.

Jemma Laker, Barry’s daughter replied, “On behalf of my family, I would like to thank you all for your kind words, it breaks my heart to say that it was my dad Barry Lake who suddenly passed away on Saturday. He was our hero and I know he would be chuffed to pieces with all of your support.”

Jemma further acknowledges that Barry was a husband, a dad and a grandad.

At the end of her post, she thanked on behalf of “the Lake family” everyone for their prayers and kind words for her dad.
