The favorites odds to become Barrow AFC’s new manager have emerged following the club’s decision to part ways with Pete Wild on Friday

The Bluebirds finished the season in 8th place, just one point shy of the League Two playoffs, but ended the campaign with a disappointing 7-game winless streak, including five losses.

Earlier in the season, Wild had guided Barrow to an impressive run of seven consecutive wins across all competitions in October and November.

They were in 5th place after a victory over Grimsby in March. However, their poor form in the final weeks cost them a top 7 finish, with Crawley Town eventually securing promotion.

Barrow AFC confirmed after a post-season review that Pete Wild would be leaving the club.

The review revealed differing perspectives between the club and Wild on future direction, leading to a mutual agreement to part ways.

“The club extended its best wishes to Wild for his future endeavors. All other members of the management team will remain, reporting to Sporting Director Iain Wood, who will now lead the search for a new head coach.”

In a post-season interview following a final-day draw with Mansfield, Wild commented, “We are on the right track. We’re playing in the right way.

“We do need to bring in more to try and get us over the line. We’re moving in the right direction, we’re not there yet, but we’re a lot closer than we were when we started two years ago.”


Barrow AFC’ Release Retain List

Barrow AFC also released its retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2023/2024 season. The club currently has 13 players under contract and will be releasing 10 players, with several still in contract negotiations.

The players still under contract include Mazeed Ogungbo, Dean Campbell, David Worrall, Kian Spence, Ged Garner, Robbie Gotts, Dom Telford, and Emile Acquah.

The club has triggered one-year extensions for Sean Etaluku, Junior Tiensia, Niall Canavan, Elliot Newby, and Paul Farman. James Chester and Ben Whitfield are in talks over new contracts.


Who is being Released?

The players being released are George Ray, Jamie Proctor, Tom White, Courtney Duffus, Sam Foley, Tyrell Warren, Rory Feely, Owen Bray, Malakai Reeve, and Sam Bellis.

Cole Stockton and Luca Stephenson will return to their parent clubs after their loan deals end. The club is also In discussions with Josh Lillis regarding a full-time goalkeeper coach position.
