Joan Gamper Trophy
The Joan Gamper Trophy, also known as the Joan Gamper Cup, is a pre-season exhibition match that is hosted by La Liga club FC Barcelona every August. The competition was initially launched in 1966, and honors Joan Gamper, who is the club’s founding member, player, and long-serving president. It initially started out as a four-team mini-tournament, but it has been a single-match event since 1997. Over the decades, the tournament has served as a festive curtain-raiser for Barca’s season, and the team remains the competition’s most successful club. Barcelona has won the title 46 times, with AS Monaco being the current holders.

This year’s Joan Gamper Trophy features an exciting matchup between Barcelona FC and Como 1907. Interestingly, Como 1907 are managed by former Blaugrana midfielder Cesc Fàbregas, and have recently earned promotion to Serie A.
