Barcelona Transfer News 2021-22: Joan Laporta Rejects Tremendous Wage Demands Of Starlet Iliax Moriba In Contract Negotiation Talks

Have a look at the transfer news of Spanish giants Barcelona who are not happy with the ongoing contract negotiations of young Iliax Moriba

The newly elected president of the club Joan Laporta has decided to bring the club out of financial ruin and has sent a clear message to the players that their stupid demands won’t be tolerated by the club at any cost.

During the ongoing contract negotiations with La Masia graduate Iliax Moriba, the player’s agents have demanded €3million per year for a player who has not even featured in 20 games for the club. He is a good player considering his young age but he has still not done anything to demand those kinds of wages.

Transfer News 2021-22: Barcelona give ultimatum to Iliax Moriba over contract

The new Barcelona board have made it very clear that they won’t be bullied under any circumstance during the ongoing contract negotiations at the club. Many big names at the club have agreed to take a significant pay cut during this tough time of the pandemic.

Even club legend Lionel Messi has agreed on a 50% pay cut in his new contract and other players like Busquets, Griezmann, Pique, Roberto, and Lenglet including many others. Meanwhile, 18-years-old Iliax Moriba comes and demands €3million per year.

Joan Laporta is furious after no productivity was witnessed in the current meetings and have made their final offer of €2million per year otherwise they will freeze the player decreasing his market value. They have held many meetings with the player’s agents but no positive result came out.

Iliax Moriba Career

He has featured in 14 La Liga games in his breakthrough season scoring 1 goal for the club. He played in four European tournaments making his debut in the Champions League against Paris-Saint Germain. €3million is too much money for a player who has not yet proved himself.

This tough behaviour by the club is due to the availability of many young talents in the midfield with 16-year-old Gavi impressing Ronald Koeman and the coaching staff alongside 19-year-old Nico Gonzalez who plays as a defensive midfielder.

Chelsea in the mix

Premier League Chelsea are looking to offload Moriba from the hands of Barcelona who in Spanish football is seen as the next Paul Pogba with his smooth ball control in the crowded midfield along with wonderful vision and playmaking ability.

They have contacted the player’s agent but Moriba knows he has a bright future at Barcelona and has joined the Barcelona B team’s pre-season squad.
