This season’s competition began on December 22, 2023, and consists of 10 football clubs competing to win the prestigious title.
Going into the competition, the defending champions, the Bashundhara Kings, will be looking to reclaim the title following an impressive fourth consecutive title win in the last season. The team currently holds the record for the most title wins.
BPL 2023-24 promotions and relegations
This season, Brothers Union FC has made a much-anticipated return to the competition following a two-year hiatus. Meanwhile, Gopalganj Sporting Club was also set to join the league alongside Brothers Union and make their debut appearance in the BPL. However, the club withdrew their registration, citing financial shortages just ahead of the start of the new season. On the other end, Muktijoddha Sangsad KC and AFC Uttara both got relegated. Notably, Muktijoddha Sangsad KC faced relegation for the first time since the league began in 2007. Meanwhile, AFC Uttara got relegated after spending just one short year in the country’s top division.
