On the second day of the Interwetten Baltic Sea Darts Open in Kiel on Saturday, Stephen Bunting defeated Michael van Gerwen, ending a seven-year winless streak against MVG. Luke Humphries, meanwhile, got his campaign off to a great start by thrashing Daryl Gurney 6-1.

2023 Baltic Sea Darts Open last day schedule, venue, draw, score, second-round results, & playing line-up
In their second-round match at the Wunderino Arena, Bunting upset Van Gerwen 6-4 to secure his spot in Sunday’s third-round tie. MVG missed double 12 for a nine-dart finish in the seventh leg of an exciting match, but the Dutchman pinned double six with his subsequent dart to grab the lead 4-3. Yet Bunting, who had lost his opening match on the 2023 European Tour, defeated the world number three with a hat-trick of legs.
After an unexpected 6-5 victory against Premier League superstar Nathan Aspinall, Steve Beaton continued his impressive play. The World Champion Michael Smith overcame a hand injury to defeat German prospect Niko Springer 6-4, while Peter Wright defeated James Wade 6-3 in a star-studded match. Welsh Premier League talents Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton qualified for the round of 16 with wins over Ted Evetts and Graham Usher, respectively.

2023 Baltic Sea Darts Open: prize money pool distribution
It is known that the prize fund for the 2023 Baltic Sea Darts Open will be $175,000; the winner will receive £30,000, while the runner-up will receive £12,000. Former world champion Michael van Gerwen will receive £4,000 in prize money after his surprising second-round loss.
