The Ballon d’Or 2024 ceremony cooked up quite a storm with runner-up Vinicius Jr, along with the whole Real Madrid team not turning up in protest.
The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place in October 2025 but there is not a definitive date for the ceremony just yet.
The ceremony will be held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
While Rodri may have won the award this year, the Spanish international will likely miss out on the next edition after suffering a season-ending ACL injury during the start of the 2024/25 campaign. Given below is the power rankings list that the bookies have set out for next year’s edition:
Vinicius Junior (7/2)
Vinicius is on a good roll this season with 15 goal involvements in his first 15 games of this season. Aside from his individual achievements, team success also plays an important role in the results. This year, there are no major men’s international tournaments taking place, as such, Los Blancos have a good chance of adding trophies to their cabinet.
Erling Haaland (9/2)
Haaland has already registered 14 goals in 12 appearances across all competition this season. Moreover, Manchester City are currently on top of the league table with a good run of form. As such, the Norwegian giants is definitely a player worth considering.
Kylian Mbappe
Mbappe made a dream move to Real Madrid earlier in the season and is on track to prove his worth. The French forward currently has 8 goals and 2 assists across all competitions. Madrid are also in a good state with plenty of talent packed in their squad.
Lamine Yamal
Upcoming Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal is still a teenager but has already made his mark among the best. Yamal showcased his true talents during the team’s recent thrashing of Los Blancos at their own stadium. Moreover, he won the Kopa Trophy this year, further assuring his talents and contributions.
Jude Bellingham
Bellingham is the third Real Madrid player on the list and is rightly on following a series of splendid performances. In his first season, the 21-year-old won a Champions League and La Liga double and scored a blistering overhead kicks to keep England at Euro 2024. The 21-year-old has a job on his hands reproducing a similar season to his 2023/24 efforts, never mind going one step further, but he’s likely to feature prominently in these conversations for years to come.
Other notable names
Aside from the five players listed above, there are several other notably players also worth mentioning. Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha both have good odds with 12/1 and 33/1 respectively. Harry Kane also had good odds of 16/1, while Cole Palmer and Phil Foden both have 25/1 and 26/1 respectively. Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah also comes in at 25/1.
