The Ballon d’Or trophy is one of the most iconic awards in the game, and repost estimate that the trophy is worth around $3,000. The trophy comes with a pyrite base and the overall structure measures around 31 cm in height and 23 cm in diameter. It roughly weighs over 7 kg. The trophy features two brass plates soldered together to create the shape of a ball. Inside, the trophy is filled with a wax-like material, while it is bathed in gold on the outside.

While there is no prize money that directly comes with the Ballon d’Or, players, the winners of the trophy usually receive pre-agreed huge bonus cheques as part of their contracts with their clubs and sponsors. For example, Luka Modric received €800,000 ($780,000) from Nike when he won the men’s award in 2018. The following year, Cristiano Ronaldo negotiated a €4m ($3.9m) bonus with Nike.
