On September 6, France Football will unveil its 30-player shortlists, kicking off the Ballon d’Or competition. The Ballon d’Or for the years 2022–2023 will be presented on Monday, October 30.

France Football, who have long served as the awards’ stewards, will host the presentation at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris. The event is anticipated to start around 3:00 p.m. ET / 8:00 p.m. BST.
The Ballon d’Or for the 2022–23 season will be based on performances from August 2022 through July 2023. This is because the award’s timing was altered by the organisers to include the customary European league season.
Along with that, Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Lionel Messi, who has won seven Ballon d’Or awards and owns the record for most such victories, ended his long career-long quest for football’s most prestigious honour with a succession of outstanding performances.
But when Manchester City swept the board with a treble, Erling Haaland, 22, scored an incredible 52 goals in all competitions. This body of work will test the voters’ willpower and may lead to a conflict over the relative value of club achievement and success with the national team.
Ballon d’Or 2023 odds
Lionel Messi currently has the lead for the 2023 Ballon d’Or after leading Argentina to its third World Cup title and the first of his career.
Messi’s final season in Paris was a mixed bag, with PSG supporters occasionally booing him as they lost in the UEFA Champions League and struggled to win the Ligue 1 championship. Messi nevertheless contributed to nearly 40 goals across all competitions despite these difficulties.
But after breaking the Premier League single-season goalscoring record, Erling Haaland’s spectacular season has the Norwegian hot on Messi’s heels.
They are the only two players in contention for the award with little hope for anyone else. Other players nearby include Brazilian star Vinicius Jr., former PSG teammate of Messi’s at PSG Kylian Mbappe, and Man City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne.
