On Monday, October 16, the famous award ceremony for this year will be held, and some of football’s top stars are almost certainly going to be nominated. The favourite for the award is undoubtedly the former forward for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Argentine icon Lionel Messi. The 35-year-old won the Ligue 1 championship with PSG and the 2022 FIFA World Cup with La Abiceleste. In his eight World Cup appearances, he scored seven goals and contributed three assists, earning him his second Golden Ball trophy. In 41 games across competitions at the Parc des Princes this season, he scored 21 goals and provided 20 assists.

Erling Haaland, a prolific scorer for Manchester City, is also anticipated to compete. The 22-year-old Norwegian has 52 goals across all competitions in the same number of games. He was essential to City’s victories in the Premier League and FA Cup. Kevin De Bruyne, a teammate, has had an equally excellent season, tallying ten goals and 31 assists in 48 games.
