Most individuals use TikTok as a source of entertainment and humor when they are feeling low. There are plenty of upbeat videos on the internet, but every now and then, some genuinely macabre stories become viral. This is undoubtedly one of them.

After social media users examined the horrible events that occurred ten years before, the disturbing narrative of Bahside McLean became viral in September 2023.
For those unversed, Tanya Byrd was murdered and mutilated in February 2013 by her oldest son, Bahsid McLean, in a heinous and terrible deed. She was dismembered and then crammed inside heavy-duty garbage bags, which were then placed in duffel bags and dumped in various sites throughout the Bronx, New York.
At the time, the 23-year-old McLean posed in front of a bathroom mirror carrying his mother’s dismembered head. According to a law enforcement official at the time, the horrifying snapshot was just one of several images discovered on McLean’s cell phone.
One of the source who know the situation very well stated that “I lost sleep over it. Just sheer inhumanity. It’s horrible what he did to her.”
At the time the unblurred picture of the culprit holding the victim’s head has made its way onto the social media platforms, however it was instantly taken down by the authorities and their quick response.
However, now after a decade, a blurred picture of the incidents showing McLean holding her mother’s head has been going around on the video-sharing platform TikTok.
After witnessing the post, various social media users share their opinions as they filled the platform’s post. One such user penned “Some people are just too sick in the head.”
Another wrote “My mouth never closed.” A third one who witnessed the horrific post on TikTok expressed “Sick as hell! R.I.P to that beautiful mother.”
Where is McLean Now?
For those who are curious as to what happened to McLean, let us tell you, Bahsid was arrested and charged with his mother’s murder shortly after. He came in court wearing a garbage bag and was evaluated psychiatrically. Bahsid maintained his innocence in court.
According to the criminal complaint, Bahsid stabbed his mother to death and then dismembered her body with the help of another man, who was later apprehended. According to authorities, each individual originally blamed the other in the murder.
A police source later reveal a possible motive for the murder, indicating that Tanya had effectively instructed Bahsid to grow up and leave her flat. The court convicted Bahsid for the second-degree murder and unlawful dissection of a human and sentenced him to 25 years to life.
