Last night, the highly regarded BAFTA Games Awards concluded their 18th chapter, with Sony’s Sci-fi shooter game Returnal taking home the top prize.
The BAFTA Games Awards commemorate “outstanding creative achievement within the global gaming industry” in one of the most prestigious award nights for the industry. There were a lot of interesting and good titles on this year’s nominee list.
BAFTA Games Awards 2022 Full Winners List And Best Game This Year
It honours the best video games of the previous year, as well as the talent behind them. The BAFTA Games Awards honour a wide range of genres as well as technical and narrative achievements in video games.
In early March, nominations for each category were held, with It Takes Two and Returnal both receiving 9 nominations. The night finished with Housemarque’s rogue-like shooter being named the best game, as well as 3 further winners in other categories.
Major Winners Of BAFTA Game Awards 2022
Returnal, a sci-fi shooter game, was selected best game at the 2022 Bafta Games Awards. On Thursday night, the PlayStation original was about an astronaut stuck in an unknown world. It was the major victor, taking home four trophies in total.
Unpacking, a puzzle game in which players must unload boxes and arrange them neatly around a new virtual house, was the second big winner at the event. It won the best story award as well as the EE game of the year award, which is the only category in which the public votes.
Forza Horizon 5, the latest instalment in the Forza racing series, was awarded best British game, while No Man’s Sky, a space exploration game, was chosen best-evolving game. The animation and technical accomplishment prizes went to Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, the latest game in the long-running popular franchise.
It Takes Two, an online platform game, won two awards in the multiplayer and original property categories. The Artful Escape received the prize for creative accomplishment, Chicory: A Colourful Tale got the award for family, and Before Your Eyes won the award for the game beyond amusement.
