Who Is Rajan Shahi?
Rajan Shahi, a young man from Delhi, has always had the desire to be an actor. Rajan moved to Mumbai shortly after college because he was inspired by his grandfather, the seasoned actor P Jairaj.
Despite the fact that his grandfather was a well-known figure in the business, Rajan aspired to succeed on his own without his help. Beginning with a few commercials, he quickly landed two solo commercials for Hero Cycles and one alongside the late Milkha Singh, as well as an episodic in “Zamana Badal Gaya Hai,” which aired on Doordarshan.
He soon understood that acting was not his strong suit, though, and joined Ravi Rai’s “Imtihaan” TV show as his guru’s assistant director. With him, he gained all of his knowledge about producing TV shows and even had the chance to direct an episode of Rai’s “Sailaab” production.
He directed “Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahi” in 1999, which was his first break as a freelancer. Following that, he directed a number of programmes, including “Mili,” “Saathii Re,” “Kareena Kareena,” and “Maayka.”
After successfully directing numerous TV programmes, he established his own production company, Director’s Kut Productions, with the TV programme “Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai”. Throughout its three years on air, the programme dominated the TRP and was a huge hit.
He also debuted “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,” another TV programme, around the same period. It has one of the longest runs among Indian television programmes.
He has also produced programmes like “Amrit Manthan” and “Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke” over the years. With “Aai Kuthe Kay Karte,” he made his Marathi debut, and the programme now has the highest TRP among regional channels.
Along with his mother, Deepa Shahi, Rajan debuted his new show “Anupamaa” and production company Shahi Production in 2020. The programme set new patterns, and viewers are eagerly anticipating the upcoming programme.
