The projected mosque in Ayodhya, which will be built following the Supreme Court’s directives to the State, would have its foundation stone laid by the Imam-e-Haram (the Imam who leads namaz) at the sacred mosque of the Kaaba in Mecca.

The Supreme Court ordered the State to provide the 5 acres of property to the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board so they may construct a mosque in its stead, which would replace the Babri Masjid, which was demolished on December 6, 1992.

IICF spokesperson and member Athar Hussain said, โ€œThe construction committee has some people who came forward to help us with the project and collection of funds. Our chief trustee (Farooqui) had visited Mumbai and some parts of Maharashtra for collection of funds and through his efforts, this committee has been formed. We are making the mosque more in line with other mosques in India โ€” with minarets and a dome at the centre. We will have to get the designs redrawn and submit it to the Ayodhya Development Authority for nod.โ€

Approximately Rs 50 lakh has been collected through fundraising for the mosque and other projects for the construction.

Mohammad Bin Abdullah Mosque

The planned mosque, known as Masjid Mohammad Bin Abdullah, is expected to be constructed near Dhannipur, which is roughly 25 kilometres from Ayodhya. The Uttar Pradesh government granted the Muslim Party a 5-acre plot in response to a ruling in the Ayodhya Ram Temple case from the Supreme Court.

Interestingly, the new mosque in Ayodhya will be the biggest in India, and it will house the biggest Quran in the world, measuring 21 feet in height and 36 feet in width, according to Haji Arafat Shaikh, the chairman of the Masjid Muhammad Bin Abdullah’s Development Committee and a BJP leader based in Mumbai, according to a TOI report.

Building the mosque in Ayodhya was initially the responsibility of the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation, a trust established on July 29, 2020. It was revealed that Masjid Muhammad Bin Abdullah would be the name of the mosque during an event in Mumbai in October 2023 that was attended by Zufar Ahmed Farooqui, the chairman of the foundation.

Free food, a vegetarian kitchen, schools, colleges, and a cancer hospital

In addition to the mosque, the complex will house a cancer hospital, educational institutions, a museum, a library, and a fully vegetarian restaurant that will provide free food to guests.

In addition, Shaikh stated that the mosque’s beauty will surpass that of the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, and that a significant draw of the complex will be the enormous aquarium next to the wuzu khana (ablution chamber), which has distinct areas for men and women.

The mosque’s fountains will come to life as dusk draws near and the call for evening namaz is announced. Even though not all of them will pray there, people of all religions are expected to come to see this monument in peace and love because it will be more beautiful than the Taj Mahal, according to Shaikh.
