Rafael Nadal marches into the final of the Grand Slam in Melbourne beating World No. 7 Matteo Berrettini 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in a thriller that ended 2 hours and 35 minutes. The Spaniard has reached the Australian Open final for the sixth time and winning the title will make him a man with the most Grand Slams surpassing rivals Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. This will be Nadal’s 2nd Australian Open title, first was in 2009 when he won against the Swiss Federer.
The Spanish professional started with two sets win against the Italian who dominated the third set but it wasn’t enough as Rafa in the last set without a mistake eliminated Berrettini out of the tournament.
Daniil Medvedev vs Stefanos Tsitsipas
Medvedev started with a lead in the first set but Tsitsipas levelled up in the second which was not enough to dominate World No. 2 as he beat the Greek 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 at Rod Laver Arena to set up a final clash vs Rafael Nadal.
Medvedev on facing Nadal told in a post-match interview with the Australian Open that he is ready and he knows that Nadal is a very strong player, he will try his best to win the match and “Grand Slam finals are special.”
