For those not sure, the Murphy plays for the Victoria cricket team in domestic cricket and for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL).
Murphy was born in Victoria, and grew up in Moama, New South Wales, just across the Murray River.

Murphy did a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science/Bachelor of Business (Sport Management) from the Deakin University. In 2023, he was picked to Australia’s test squad for the team’s tour of India.
He was amongst the 4 spinners chosen, along with Nathan Lyon, Ashton Agar, and Mitchell Swepson.
Murphy grabbed a total of 7 wickets in his Test debut in Australia’s first Test of their Indian tour in February 2023.
Todd Murphy didn’t start bowling off-spin until he was 16, when spin guru Craig Howard spotted him at an under-16s training session in Rochester.
He immediately rose to popularity as one of the country’s most promising young cricketers, being named to Australia’s squad for the 2020 U19 World Cup, where he grabbed seven wickets in seven games between the tournament and warm-up matches.
He made his Sheffield Shield debut for Victoria at the conclusion of the 2020-21 season, but it wasn’t until 2022 that he really broke out and established himself as one of Australia’s finest spinners.
His father is Jamie while his mother is Paula and he has a brother named Joel. He is unmarried at the moment. He wears the number 36 jersey for the Sydney Sixers and hasn’t been picked in the IPL yet.

Murphy claimed seven wickets and made a crucial 24 not out in only his second first-class match, helping Victoria to a famous Shield victory over Tasmania in March that ensured the state’s passage to the season decider against WA in 2022: “Without that game, I don’t get the opportunities I’ve been given over the last six to eight months.”
“That was a huge step forward for me and my career.” It gave me a foundation to build on, therefore I remember that (game) fondly.”
Australia has made its selection. A tour of Sri Lanka followed in June, as did a full contract with the Sydney Sixers.
In the 2021-22 Big Bash League season, he made his Twenty20 debut for the Sydney Sixers on December 26, 2021.
