It was the last day of the tournament that started on the 12th of February with its final today that included Carlos Alcaraz Garfia against Diego Schwartzman in the Singles and Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini vs Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares in the doubles.

Carlos Alcaraz Garfia vs Diego Schwartzman

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Diego Schwartzman 6-4,6-2 to become the youngest player in one and 26 minutes to win the ATP title in Rio de Janeiro.

“I can’t believe it, honestly. It has been a great week for me playing a great level,” Alcaraz said on court post-win.

The Spanish processional served very well to win 76% of the points (26/34) behind his first serve. Still, he won only 38% points (6/16) on his second serve. Carlos was absolutely powerful and converted 83% of the breakpoints that he conquered (5/6).

Three games back to back in two days for the duos. Quarterfinals and Semifinals were played on the same days following rain in Rio and then the Final on the very next day. Diego Schwartzman spent three hours and 33 minutes at the quarters clash hours later he came back on the court for two hours at the semifinals.

The day went too exhausting for the Argentine compared to the one of Carlos’. Spending more than five hours winning two back to back games in a day and fighting for the trophy the very next day might have affected the player that resulted in his loss.

This was the first meeting of the two where the Argentine lost to the Spaniard in the battle of title.

ATP Rio Open 2022 Men’s Doubles Final Winner Results And Score

Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini vs Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares

The Italian pair Bolelli-Fognini defeated the pair of Murray and Soares 7-5, 6-7(2), 10-6 to win the doubles title. The duo ha snow won four tour-level titles together. The newly crowned doubles winners won 64 per cent of their second-serve points compared to 50 per cent for their competitors.

Winner Carlos Alcaraz Garfia along with the trophy will take home $317,400 and 500 ATP points meanwhile the runner-up Diego Schwartzman will go back with $169,985 along with 300 ATP points.
