The ongoing Mexican Open tournament had its Round of 16 fixtures today commencing from February 19 and will run until 26. The tournament is played on hard courts of Arena GNP in Acapulco, Mexico.
The reigning champion of the tournament in Men’s singles is World No. 3 and Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Alexander Zverev of Germany who was yesterday thrown out of the competition following his “unsportsmanlike” conduct on chair umpire after he was defeated on the doubles match pairing with Marcelo Melo.
The current champions of the doubles are the United Kingdom pair Ken Skupski and Neal Skupski.

The natch between the two didn’t happen and Peter Gojoczyk was given a walk over to the next round.

Daniil Medvedev vs Yoshihito Nishioka
Medvedev’s form this year has been very extraordinary since the start of the ATP Cup. Not to forget his brilliant performance against Nadal where the Russian fought hard until the end. It will be very hard to defeat him as he is a good mover as well as a defender.
Head to Head Record
The Russian-Japanse duo has never faced each other in the main draw, however, both of them fought each other at the Cincinnati Open’s qualifying round in 2018 where World No. 2 won the race.
Marcos Giron vs Stefanos Tsitsipas
Giron’s season was disappointing where he lost in the first round of all the three tournaments he took part in, in Australia. It will be tough for Giron to dominate World No. 4 while the Greek is a better server.
Head to Head H2H Record
This is going to be their first tour-level meeting, however, they both clashed with each other in the qualifying rounds of the Chengdu Open in 2017 where the Greek professional ended the game in his favour.
Rafael Nadal vs Tommy Paul
Paul had been inconsistent but had a great year reaching the quarters of both tournaments he participated in at Adelaide but was knocked out in the second round of the Australian Open.
Meanwhile, Nadal opened his season with an ATP Cup Summer Set trophy and made a 21 Grand Slam record at the first Grand Slam of the year. He keeps extending his unbeaten streak this year and beating the Spaniard is highly unlikely.
Head to Head
Both of them have never faced each other and this is going to be their first meeting.
Cameron Norrie vs Peter Gojowczyk
Norrie has imposed only one double fault and had been productive on serve to win 85% (51/60) in the first serve and 73% (16/22) on the second serve and not concede a single break in the previous encounter. He has dropped 1 set and overcame 56% of the points at the tournament. He won the title in Delray Beach defeating Reilly Opelka
It will not be easy for Gojowczyk to defeat Norrie as he is enjoying the best phases of his career and is the favourite to win.
Head to Head
The pair will fight each other for the fourth time throughout their career so far where Norrie dominates 3-0 and 1-0 in the hardcourt.
