1. Neal Skupski and Wesley Koolhof

The duo recently won the doubles trophy at ATP Mutua Madrid Open defeating Robert Farah and Juan Sebastian Cabal. Before Madrid Open, they progressed to the final at Barcelona Open and Miami Open but were beaten by Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies in Barcelona and John Isner and Hubert Hurkacz in Miami.

The duo also won a trophy in Qatar Open and Adelaide International 2 and started their 2022 season with a title in Melbourne, Australia, getting over Rohan Bopanna and Denis Shapovalov in Doha and Gonzalo Escobar and Ariel Behar on Centre Court in Adelaide and Aleksandr Nedovyesov and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi in Melbourne.

Skupski and Koolhof have won three titles so far and reached ended up as finalists in two tournaments. They also had reached the semifinals and quarterfinals in several tournaments this year. 2. Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram

3. Hubert Hurkacz and Grigor Dimitrov

Hurkacz was recently paired with John Isner to reach the semifinals of the Madrid Open before losing against eventual winners Skupski and Koolhof. At Miami, they reached the final losing to the same opponents. He was paired with Jannik Sinner to advance to the last eight of the Dubai Tennis Championships as well as at the ATP Rotterdam with Felix Auger-Aliassime. Meanwhile, Dimitrov had some good progress in singles. The newly formed duo are expected to work together for better results.

4. Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini

Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli won a title recently at Rio Open defeating Bruno Soares and Jamie Murray. Fognini was previously paired with Horacio Zeballos to reach the final of the Argentina Open. At the Grand Slam in Australia, Fognini-Bolelli were defeated by Salisbury-Ram in the quarterfinals. They started their 2022 season as being runners-up at the Sydney International. Their form suggests their good performance in Italy and that’s why they make one of the favourites for the tournament in Rome, Italy.

5. Ariel Behar and Gonzalo Escobar

The pair are the Serbia Open doubles champions where they hammered Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic to clinch the title. At Challenger Phoenix, they reached the quarterfinals and the semifinals of the Argentina Open. The duo kicked off their 2022 tennis season with progress to the last four at the Adelaide International 1 and reached the final of the Adelaide International 2 before they lost the title to Skupski and Koolhof. Quit good results for the duo and this is why they are expected to continue their form with better results in Italy.
