Novak Djokovic vs Stefanos Tsitsipas

Novak Djokovic recovered from a setback to defeat No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas to win his sixth title in Rome, Italy. With the victory, the No. 1 ATP player added to his 38th Masters 1000 title. He defeated Tsitsipas 6-0, 7-6 in the final (5).

So far in the 2022 season, Djokovic has won his first trophy. Following vaccine regulations that prohibited his participation in various tournaments, the Serb was forced to withdraw from several events. Novak was also unable to compete in the inaugural Grand Slam tournament because his visa was twice revoked owing to a dispute over vaccination status and medical exemptions.

The Serbian needed to reach the semifinals of the Italian Open to stay atop the ATP rankings, and he did just that, winning his 1000th match and reaching the 55th Masters 1000 final, defeating Casper Ruud in straight sets.
