ATP Generali Open 2022 Singles And Doubles Winners
Roberto Bautista Agut vs Filip Misolic
At the Generali Open in Kitzbühel on Saturday, Roberto Bautista Agut displayed all of his elegance while playing a home favourite who was riding a wave of energy.
At the clay-court ATP 250 competition in Austria, the third seed halted Next GenATP Filip Misolic’s unbeaten streak with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the championship match to win his 11th ATP Tour title.
The 20-year-old Misolic earlier held his composure to defeat Yannick Hanfmann in the third set tie-break of their rain-delayed semi-final match and advance to the final in his maiden tour-level competition. But when the two players returned to the court for the final match, Misolic was unable to counter Bautista Agut’s consistent ball-striking, and the Spaniard won in an hour and 33 minutes.
As he controlled play throughout the final, firing a series of scorching winners from deep and remaining steadfast behind his own delivery, Bautista Agut broke Misolic’s serve twice in each set. This victory follows his triumph in Doha in February.
The victory marked the Spaniard’s second tour-level triumph on clay, and he was happy to return to the winners’ circle after his victory in Stuttgart in 2014. On his second visit to Kitzbühel this week, Bautista Agut also overcame Jurij Rodionov, Jiri Lehecka, and Albert Ramos-Vinolas. The victory has increased the Spaniard’s position in the Pepperstone ATP Live Rankings by two spots, to No. 18.
Pedro Martinez/Lorenzo Sonego vs Tim Puetz/Michael Venus
Even though Pedro Martinez and Lorenzo Sonego played the Generali Open the hard way this week, they maintained their composure to win their first ATP Tour title in Kitzbühel.
Martinez and Sonego won their second Match Tie-break victory of the week when they upset top seeds Tim Puetz and Michael Venus in a thrilling championship match in Austria with a score of 5-7, 6-4, 10-8. The other two triumphs by Martinez and Sonego at the clay-court ATP 250 competition each required two tie-break sets.
