Rafael Nadal will play either Borna Coric or a Qualifier/Lucky Loser in his first match back following his abdominal tear at Wimbledon.
Taylor Fritz-Sebastian Baez, which is in the same section as Nick Kyrgios-Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, is another match to keep an eye on. Additionally, third-seeded Matteo Berrettini-Frances Tiafoe and Carlos Alcaraz will compete against either Mackenzie McDonald or Nikoloz Basilashvili.
The current champion, Alexander Zverev, will be unable to compete owing to injury, and Novak Djokovic may not be able to compete at all during the US Open swing due to reduced COVID-19 restrictions and undetermined travel plans.
