Junmoni Rabha, an officer of the Assam police known for her tough-on-crime image and also referred to as Lady Singham or Dabang cop, tragically lost her life in a fatal accident.
In Sarubhugia village, Assam’s Nagaon district, the tragedy occurred when her automobile collided with a truck. The tragic news has been verified by police authorities, who also announced that the Assam Criminal Investigation Department (CID) would look into the accident as well as another case that had been brought against her only one day before her sad death.

A police patrol team hurried to the scene of the early-morning incident after getting information around 2:30 in the morning, and they quickly brought Junmoni Rabha to a local hospital. Sadly, the attending physicians declared her dead.
Nevertheless, it is still unknown why the sub-inspector Junmoni Rabha was driving toward Upper Assam by herself in a private vehicle while dressed in civilian clothes and without any security. Her family has asked for an impartial and fair inquiry into the tragedy since they believe there was foul play.
The truck that was involved in the collision had license plates from Uttar Pradesh, and the police have now confiscated them. But, following the crash, the truck’s driver fled the scene.
The mother of the dead SI Junmoni Rabha, Sumitra Rabha, expressed shock at her daughter’s passing and asserted that it was not an accident but rather a “pre-planned” homicide carried out by an anonymous group.

She was a native of Nolonga, Guwahati, Assam. Her father’s name is Ronjoy KR Rabha, and her mother’s name is Sumitra Rabh. She also has two sisters named Gitanjali Talukdar and Asha Rabha.
Junmoni Rabha did her schooling at Naraksur High School in Guwahati. Later, she attended Cotton College in Guwahati and Handique Girls College in Guwahati.
She was not married. However, she was engaged to Rana Pogag, who is also an officer. She died on May 15, 2023, in Nagaon, Assam. At the time of her death, she was 30 years old.
Her career
During her tenure as the in-charge of the Morikolong Police Outpost, sub-inspector Junmoni Rabha gained a reputation for being tough on criminals. However, along with her strict image, she also faced accusations of involvement in financial irregularities.
Due to multiple corruption allegations, she was arrested in June last year, leading to her suspension from the service. However, her suspension was subsequently revoked, allowing her to resume her duties.
