India managed to snag an impressive six medals at the recently concluded Asian Rowing Championships 2021, know its full medal tally and winners list
Sending 16 rowers to the Asian Rowing Championships 2021 across six different formats, India wrapped up their soujorn in Thailand with a solid six medals in their kitty.
India Finish Asian Rowing Championships 2021 With 6 Medals In Their Tally
The final day of the showpiece event was even more special for the country as Arvind Singh won the gold medal in the men’s lightweight single sculls on Sunday. He finished the race in 7.55.942 at the Royal Thai Navy Rowing Center in Rayong while Uzbekistan’s Sobirjon Safaroliyev ca,e in second with a time of 7.58.397. China’s Weichun Chen wrapped up the podium as he clocked 8.10.043.
Avrind who had also represented India at the Tokyo Olympics earlier this year won his second medal on the bounce at the Asian Rowing Championships. Sunday also saw India win three silver medals with the country winning a total of two gold and four silver medals to better their 2019 performance where they had won five medal which included the one gold, two silver and two bronze.
Ashish Phugat and Sukhjinder Singh won silver in the men’s lightweight double sculls with a time of 7:12.568, only 3.401 seconds behind the Chinese pair of Qing Li and Weichun Chen. Thailand’s Siwakorn Wongpin and Nawamin Deenoi came third.
The quadruple sculls saw Bittu Singh, Jakar Khan, Manjeet Kumar and Sukhmeet Singh win the silver with a time of 6.33.083 as they finished only 0.523 seconds behind Uzbekistan. Unfortunately things weren’t quite so hunky dory for the Indian women who failed to record a single medal at the event.
The first gold medal for India had come on Saturday with Arjun Lal Jat and Ravi winning the men’s double sculls event.
