2023 Asian Para Games results today, key performers, and Indian medal winners
On the opening day of the 4th Asian Para Games, India secured a remarkable start, claiming top honors in the men’s high jump T63 and the men’s club throw F51 events. In high jump T63, Kumar set a new Asian Para Games record by clearing 1.82 meters, earning the gold medal, while Mariyappan Thangavelu secured the silver with a jump of 1.80 meters.
In the men’s club throw F51 competition, Pranav Soorma achieved another Asian Para Games record by launching the club 30.01 meters to claim the gold medal. With just four competitors in the event, Indian stars Dharambir (28.76m) and Amit Kumar (26.93m) took the second and third positions, respectively. Nishad Kumar triumphed in the men’s high jump T47 category, securing the gold medal, while Ram Pal earned the silver.
In the men’s shot put F11 event, Monu Ghangas secured a bronze medal with a throw of 12.33 meters. Prachi Yadav clinched a silver medal in the women’s canoe VL2 event with a time of 1:03.147. Additionally, in the mixed 50m pistol SH1 shooting event, Rudransh Khandelwal secured a silver medal, propelling India to second place in the overall medal tally. So far, the Indian contingent has won a total of 14 medals, including 5 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze.
