2024 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships final results, medal winners list, and Indian athletes’ performance

Gulveer Singh, an athlete representing India, faced the loss of his gold medal in the men’s 3000m event during the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships due to a disqualification for crossing out of his designated lane. Despite crossing the finish line first in the 3000m final with a time of 8 minutes and 7.48 seconds, he was disqualified for a lane infringement.

As a result of this setback, India’s overall medal count for the championship was adjusted to three gold medals and one silver. Earlier in the event, Tajinderpal Singh Toor set a new national record in shot put, Jyothi Yarraji claimed gold in the 100m hurdles, and Harmilan Bains emerged victorious in the 1500m, contributing to India’s initial successes on the opening day. Toor and Yarraji notably surpassed their own national records during their performances.

Furthermore, Ankita secured a silver medal in the women’s 3000m race, finishing with a time of 9 minutes and 26.22 seconds. Comparatively, in the preceding edition held in Astana, Kazakhstan, India had attained one gold, six silver, and one bronze medal in total.
