On Saturday, Indian men’s and women’s table tennis teams progressed to the pre-quarterfinals of the Asian Games by securing comprehensive 3-0 victories against Nepal and Tajikistan in their respective Group F matches. In the women’s category, the Indian team emerged as the group leaders with two consecutive wins. They are now set to face Thailand in the round of 16. Meanwhile, the Indian men’s team mirrored their female counterparts by sweeping Tajikistan aside, securing a perfect record in Group F after previously defeating Yemen and Singapore.

In the women’s match against Nepal, Diya Chitale set the tone with a dominant performance, defeating Sikka Shreshta with scores of 11-1, 11-6, 11-8. Ayhika Mukherjee extended India’s lead with an impressive 11-3, 11-7, 11-2 victory over Nabita Shreshta. Sutirtha Mukherjee sealed the victory for India by outclassing Evana Thapa with scores of 11-1, 11-5, 11-2.
The Indian men’s team, despite the absence of veterans G Sathiyan and A Sharath Kamal, displayed their dominance against Tajikistan. Manav Thakar got them off to a strong start, defeating Afzalkhon Mahmudov with scores of 11-8, 11-5, 11-8. Manush Shah continued the winning streak with a 13-11, 11-7, 11-5 victory over Ubaydullo Sultonov, securing a 2-0 lead for India. Harmeet Desai then wrapped up the match with ease, winning 11-1, 11-3, 11-5 against Ibrokhim Ismoilzoda.
