2023 Asian Games squash results, India vs Pakistan schedule, date, venue, & participating teams
The Indian women’s and men’s squash teams had a successful start to their Asian Games 2023 campaign in Hangzhou. Notably, the women’s team, consisting of Joshna Chinappa, Anahat Singh, and Tanvi Khanna, secured a convincing victory against Pakistan in their initial Pool B match, winning 3-0. In the women’s team event, Anahat Singh set the tone with a flawless 3-0 victory (11-6, 11-6, 11-3) over Sadia Gul. Subsequently, Joshna Chinappa defeated Noor Ul Huda Sadiq with a score of 3-0 (11-2, 11-5, 11-7), and Tanvi Khanna wrapped up the tie by beating Noor Ul Ain Ijaz 3-0 (11-3, 11-6, 11-2). Following this win, the Indian women’s team currently holds the fourth position in the Pool B standings and is set to face Nepal and Macao China in their upcoming matches.
Meanwhile, the Indian men’s squash team achieved identical 3-0 victories over Singapore and Qatar in their Pool A matches. Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu secured the opening win for India against Singapore, prevailing 3-1 (11-4, 13-11, 8-11, 11-7) over Jerome Clement Aw Jin Ming. Saurav Ghosal, competing in his sixth Asian Games, followed suit by defeating Samuel Kang Shan Mu 3-0 (11-9, 11-1, 11-4), and Abhay Singh clinched the tie with a 3-0 (11-7, 11-7, 11-7) win over Marcus Phua Jia Hui.
Later in the day, the Indian men’s team continued their success by defeating Qatar. Mahesh Mangaonkar, who replaced Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu for the Qatar match, got India off to a strong start with a 3-0 (11-7, 11-4, 11-1) win over Ahmad Al-Tamimi. Saurav Ghosal came through with a 3-1 victory (11-1, 5-11, 11-5, 11-3) against Abdulla Al-Tamimi, and Abhay Singh wrapped up the day with a 3-1 win (13-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-2) over Syed Amjad.
