In the women’s hockey tournament of the 2023 Asian Games, the Indian national team maintained their unbeaten record with a 1-1 draw against the Republic of Korea. This match took place at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium in Hangzhou, China, on a Sunday. Navneet Kaur scored the equalizing goal for India in the 44th minute, responding to Cho Hyejin’s 12th-minute goal that had given South Korea the lead.
Thanks to this draw, India’s women’s hockey team, currently ranked seventh globally, secured the top position in Pool A, edging out Korea based on goal difference. The top two teams from each pool will advance to the semi-finals. Before this match, India had a dominating start in the tournament, defeating Singapore 13-0 in their opening game and achieving a 6-0 victory against Malaysia.
