China’s Gao Tianyi initiated the scoring in the 17th minute, while Rahul KP managed to equalize for India during injury time in the first half. However, China regained their lead with Dai Weijun finding the net in the 51st minute. Qianglong Tao swiftly added two more goals within a short span, and Hao Fang sealed the victory with a fifth goal for the hosts during injury time.
Following this initial setback, the Indian football squad now faces the imperative task of securing positive outcomes in their forthcoming matches against Bangladesh and Myanmar. It’s crucial because only the top two teams, along with four of the six best-placed third-place teams, will advance to the round of 16. The Indian football team arrived at the Asian Games without the benefit of a training camp, and they encountered a rocky start to the match as China posed a continuous threat with their attacking plays.
India is scheduled to face Bangladesh in their upcoming football match at the Asian Games 2023, which will take place on Thursday at the Xiaoshan Sports Centre Stadium. Following this, the Blue Tigers will conclude their group stage campaign by competing against Myanmar on Sunday.
