The Asian Games’ wushu competition, which has been held since 1990 in Hangzhou, will get underway on Sunday. India has taken home seven medals at the multi-sport competition in Wushu, including one silver and six bronze.

With the host nation being the world leader in the sport, China and Iran will enter the competition as the favourites.
Meanwhile, the entry into China of three Indian wushu players, Nyeman Wangsu, Onilu Tega, and Mepung Lamgu, has been prohibited. The remaining seven members of the Indian Wushu team, along with staff members, took a trip to Hong Kong before continuing to Hangzhou, China. Following this, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur had to cancel his trip to the host country in reply to the incident.
Arunachal Pradesh is home to the three Indian athletes. While two of them were awaiting accreditation and one of them already had it, they were unable to board the plane after the squad departed for China on Wednesday, September 20 due to a lack of proper approval. The ninth edition of wushu, a martial art that has been featured in the Asian Games since 1990, will begin on Sunday. This sport will give another gold medal at the Asian Games this year thanks to the 8-year return of the men’s 75 kg sanda division.
