Team India currently share the 5th spot in the medals tally with Hong Kong China, securing 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals.
Asian Games 2023 team India preview
Team India are heading into the upcoming event following an impressive 70 medals haul in the previous Jakarta 2018 edition. In the previous event, India featured a 570-contingent that secured 16 gold medals, 23 silver medals, and 31 bronze medals. Athletics in particular has been the key contributor towards India’s medal tally at the Asian Games.
Up until now, India have managed to bring in 254 medals from track and field events out of the 672 medals that India has so won so far. The Indian contingent at the Hangzhou 2023 features 68 athletes in athletics, which marks the largest representation in any sport. Some notable Indian athletes in the athletics squad are Neeraj Chopra, Avinash Sable, Jyothi Yarraji, and more.

Team India secured its first medal at the ongoing competition in the women’s 10m air rifle team event. The three shooters – Ramita Jindal, Mehuli Ghosh, and Ashi Chouksey managed to clinch the silver medal. The trio achieved a total score of 1886 during the qualification round. Meanwhile, China won the gold medal with 1896.6 points, while Mongolia secured the bronze with 1880 points.
