In an excellent performance at the 19th Asian Games, held in Hangzhou, China, Indian athletes showed both grit and grandeur. The athletes won six gold, four silver, and two bronze medals on the final day of their campaign, totaling 12 medals.

With an astounding collection of 107 medals, India’s 655 athletes eclipsed their own previous record, which was established in Jakarta 2018. India’s strong medal haul, which included 28 gold, 38 silver, and 41 bronze, exceeded the 70 won by the previous year’s 570-athlete squad.

Until the athletes opt to reset it in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan in 2026, the number of 107 will endure in the nation’s collective memory. Due to the absence of Indian athletes from two categories slated for the final day of competition on Sunday, India wrapped up its participation in the continental showcase on Saturday.

Badminton’s Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy earned a historic gold medal by defeating the competition in the mixed doubles final. In the interim, the men’s cricket team, whose first innings of the championship match against Afghanistan was postponed due to rain, received gold.
Chinese Taipei was defeated in the gold-medal match by the women’s kabaddi team. The men’s team also won another gold by defeating Iran in a contentious final.
