On Monday, at the commencement of the Asian Games 2023 badminton men’s singles competition, Lee Zii Jia secured a remarkable 2-1 victory over Ng Ka Long Angus, overcoming a deficit to emerge victorious. After a challenging match lasting 62 minutes at the Binjiang Gymnasium in Hangzhou, Lee triumphed with a score of 15-21, 21-15, 21-16. In the upcoming round, Lee will play against Mourinho Zefi Costa Gusmao De Jesus, who received a bye for the first-round.
In the women’s singles category, Indian ace PV Sindhu will face-off against Taiwanese shuttler Hsu Wen-chi to begin her medal quest. Meanwhile, Ashmita Chaliha will clash against Indonesian shuttler Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. In another first-round game, the reigning world champion An Se-young will face-off against Macao shuttler Pui Chi Wa.
