In an outstanding display of skill, the Indian men’s doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty has secured a spot in the final, bringing India one step closer to its first-ever gold medal in badminton at the Asian Games.

The world No.3 pair, who played a pivotal role in the Indian men’s team winning the silver medal, delivered a sensational performance, defeating Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, the Tokyo bronze medalists and former world champions, with a commanding score of 21-17, 21-12 in just 46 minutes. This historic victory makes Satwik and Chirag the first Indian pair to reach the Asian Games gold medal match.

On the other hand, Prannoy, who was battling a back injury, faced difficulties in his singles match against China’s reigning All England champion, Li Shi Feng. The world No.7 Indian made several unforced errors and ultimately lost 16-21, 9-21 to the home favorite, Li, who is ranked eighth in the world. Despite the loss, Prannoy’s performance earned him India’s second men’s singles medal at the Asian Games since Syed Modi’s bronze in the 1982 edition in New Delhi. Notably, Prannoy was also a vital part of the Indian men’s team that won the silver medal.
