2023 Men’s Asian Champions Trophy India vs Malaysia final score, match events, winner, & other details
Despite scoring the first goal of the final through Jugraj Singh, India conceded three goals in quick succession as Malaysia established 3-1 lead thanks to goals from Azrai, Razie Rahim, & Aminudin Muhamad. Although they scored lesser number of goals, India had 56% of the first-half possession and made nine circle penetrations compared to Malaysia’s seven.
From the beginning of third quarter, India played aggressively in search of goals and it paid-off as they managed to two score goals towards the end of this quarter. For India, Harmanpreet Singh and Gurjant Singh scored one goal each in the 45th minute to tie the score at 3-3. During the fourth-quarter, Malaysia gave it their all to regain the lead but with four minutes left in the game, Akashdeep Singh netted a goal of his own to make it 4-3 in favor of India. Ultimately, India finished the match 4-3 and bagged the 2023 Men’s Asian Champions Trophy, which will give them major confidence ahead of the Asian Games.

With their hard-fought 4-3 victory against Malaysia, hosts India clinched their fourth Asian Champions Trophy title. Meanwhile, Malaysia will lament their missed chances that robbed them the opportunity to win this title for the first time. After losing against Japan in the third-place Play-offs, reigning champions South Korea finished the tournament in fourth-place. It is confirmed that Tamil Nadu government will reward each player of the Indian squad with prize money of INR 500,000 and each coaching staff will receive rewards worth INR 250,000.
