At the Asian boxing championship 2021, boxer Pooja Rani got crowned in the 74 kg weight category. Her journey makes for resplendent viewing.
The Asian Championship 2021 which was being held in Dubai proved to be the pinnacle of Pooja Rani’s career. The boxer based out of Haryana won gold at this championship in the 74 kg weight division category. She marked this colossal win by defeating Uzbekistani boxer Mavluda Movlonova to add the second continental gold in Pooja’s career.
Earlier, Rani had won gold which made her qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. This second massive success is definitely going to impact the career of this 30-year-old female boxer. The only Indian woman boxer to win gold at the Championships, Rani will now be jetting off to the showpiece games to emulate that consummate success.
Pooja Rani is believed to have the best clinical skills in the sport of boxing, ones carved out of hardships she encountered in the early stages of her career.
Pooja Rani Boxer: A Career Foraged Out Of Unnerving Grit
The road to success has never been easy for Pooja Rani Bohra. This was not because she lacked talent but the reason was her conservative community background. She hails from Nimriwali village; this village is located in Bhiwani, Haryana. The introduction of boxing was done to Pooja quite late that’s why it took her so long to achieve success.
Pooja’s entire school life went without boxing as she was introduced to the sport in the first year of her college. She was tall and strong so one of his professor’s wife insisted her to try her luck in the sport of boxing. Who knew then that this girl is going to shine this bright in boxing.
Her father was a policeman who believed that the aggressive sport of boxing is not meant for girls. Almost six months she hid all her major fights from her family as she didn’t want her father to see her injuries and bruises.
National Youth Boxing Championship 2009 changed Pooja Rani’s life completely. She competed in the 60 kg category and won gold. Her parents were proud of their daughter’s achievement and since then are supporting her game. Since 2017 the graph of her career is rising only there has not been any downfall. Today if we talk about women’s boxing definitely Pooja Rani remains at the top.
