On Wednesday’s opening day of the 2023 Asian Athletics Championships, Indian athlete Abhishek Pal bagged a bronze medal in the 10000-meter race. Meanwhile, Tejaswin Shankar had a strong opening day in the decathlon, taking first place with 4124 points, and appears to be headed for a significant gold medal in the event. However, Annu Rani yet again failed to surpass the 60-meter milestone and placed fourth in the women’s javelin final with a throw of 59.10 meters.
Mohammed Ajmal and Rajesh Ramesh have both qualified for Thursday’s 400-meter final. Ajmal placed fourth in his semifinal and qualified as the fastest non-automatic qualifier with a timing of 45.76s, but Ramesh advanced to the final by placing third in his semifinal with a timing of 45.91s. Aishwarya Mishra won the 400m heat in 53.58 seconds and advanced to the final. With a time of 4:27.61s, India’s Lili Das placed seventh in the women’s 1500-meter final.
