Sadly, for India, several athletes like long jumper Jeswin Aldrin, triple jumper Praveen Chithravel, and javelin thrower Rohit Yadav have all pulled out of the competition due to injuries.

Aside from the hosts Thailand, the other participating nations include India, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore.
Asian Athletics Championships 2023 team India athletes to watch
Shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor and long jumper Murali Sreeshankar are India’s best hopes at the Asian Athletics Championships 2023. Jyothi Yarraji is another athlete worth watching who will compete in the women’s 100m hurdles. She is the current Asian record holder managing to clock in at 12.84 seconds and under 13 seconds several times. Jyothi will also compete in the 200m. Other notable athletes include long jumper Murali Sreesankar, and Tajinderpal Singh Toor.
Asian Athletics Championships 2023
This year’s Asian Athletics Championships 2023 is taking place after a four-year hiatus. The last edition, which was supposed to take place in 2021 in Hangzhou, China, got canceled due to COVID-19. Doha 2019 was the last successful edition where India finished with 16 medals – two gold, seven silver, and seven bronze. Up until now, India’s best performance at the Asian Athletics Championships was at Bhubaneswar in 2017. Indian athletes have so far won 27 medals, including nine gold medals.
