The Covid-19 pandemic caused the 2021 edition of the competition to be cancelled. The tournament is finally back since 2019.

On January 31, 2023, the tournament’s groups were announced.

The event will feature 17 teams in total. The teams were split up into four groups.

The competition will take place in Dubai from February 14 until February 19, 2023.

Each of the first three groups has four teams, while one group is made up of five teams. The top seeds in the competition are China, Japan, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

At the 2023 Badminton Asia Championships, Malaysia will present a challenge to India because both teams are in the same group. India is included in Group B. In addition to Malaysia, the group also includes Kazakhstan and the hosts, the United Arab Emirates.

Asia Mixed Team Championships 2023 Indian squad:

This year’s Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship will have a sizable Indian presence led by World No. 8 HS Prannoy and gold medalist at the Commonwealth Games PV Sindhu.

However, due to an injury sustained by Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, the World No. 5 Men’s Doubles team of Chirag Shetty and Rankireddy will not compete in the competition.

Women’s singles: PV Sindhu, Aakarshi Kashyap

Men’s doubles: Satwiksairaj Ranikreddy/Chirag Shetty, Krishna Prasad Garga/Vishnuvardhan Goud P

Women’s doubles: Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand, Ashwini Bhat/Shikha Gautam

Mixed doubles: Ishaan Bhatnagar/Tanisha Crasto

Lakshya Sen, H.S. Prannoy, P.V. Sindhu, and the men’s doubles team of Satwiksairaj Ranikreddy and Chirag Shetty will all receive a direct entry for the team due to their higher world rankings in singles.

Other players were chosen, following a round of trials. The second participant in the Women’s Singles is Aakarshi Kashyap. The Men’s Doubles team included Krishna Prasad Garga and Vishnuvardhan Goud.

The lone Mixed Doubles team will be Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto, with Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand and Ashwini Bhat/Shikha Gautam serving as the Women’s doubles teams.
