India and Pakistan only face off against one other at international ICC events and Asia Cup games, therefore one can expect ticket prices to be higher than usual and a tenfold rise in demand.

As already announced, Sri Lanka would host the remaining nine matches, leaving Pakistan to host four. On August 30 in Multan, The Men in Green will also serve as the tournament’s opening opponent of Nepal. However, it might be the only match Pakistan plays at home given that Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be playing there on September 3 and that Afghanistan will play Sri Lanka on September 5.

It is unknown if Pakistan would participate in the Super 4 match that will be held at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore. Babar Azam and company made it to the 2022 final but fell to Sri Lanka by 47 runs. As a result, they will try to win their third Asia Cup championship.

Since 2012, the neighbours India and Pakistan have not faced one another on their home fields in any game; rather, they have only done so in neutral-site international contests. Since 1947, when the subcontinent was divided, the two cricketing superpowers have been embroiled in three wars and are fierce political foes.

The board of Sri Lanka has expressed willingness to host certain Asia Cup games despite an economic crisis that led to it defaulting on its US$46 billion foreign debt in April of last year and requiring a rescue from the International Monetary Fund.
