Know all details about Aseem Shakti saree brand including it’s founder and owner, where to buy the sarees online and financial performance over the years
Aseem Shakti, a Mumbai-based startup, offers a unique solution to the age-old challenge of wearing a saree—by allowing women to slip into one in just 15 seconds. Founded in 2018 by Swati, Aseem Shakti is about empowering women, creating jobs, and helping them achieve financial independence. The brand caught national attention when Swati shared her story on Shark Tank India Season 4, where her pitch inspired both viewers and investors.
Who is Swati as ready-to-wear saree brand Aseem Shakti goes viral after appearance on Shark Tank India season 4
Swati’s journey started as a teacher, helping underprivileged youth learn spoken English. Later, she prepared for the UPSC exams and became involved with self-help groups, learning about the struggles women in low-income communities face. During this time, she witnessed women taking dangerous risks to earn a living—some participating in harmful cosmetic patch tests.
Later, Swati decided to focus on fashion and saw an opportunity to create ready-to-wear sarees. After noticing a growing demand for them, she designed India’s first 15-second saree. But she didn’t stop there. Swati added pockets to the saree, making it even more practical for women who lead busy lives, without losing the elegance or cultural significance of the garment.
Now, the startup employs women from marginalized communities, giving them steady income and a chance to improve their quality of life. The women working at Aseem Shakti earn between ₹24,000 and ₹44,000 per month, which allows them to support their families, pay for their children’s education, and achieve financial independence.
Swati brought eight of these women to the Shark Tank India set, where they walked the ramp wearing Aseem sarees and surprised the sharks by presenting them with roses hidden in the saree pockets, a gesture that highlighted the personal impact of the brand. In 2021, a viral video of the ready-to-wear saree helped boost the brand’s visibility, and sales quickly climbed.
Swati Singh, the powerhouse behind the brand Aseem Shakti, graced the stage of Shark Tank India Season 4 with an innovation that is revolutionizing traditional Indian attire, the “Ready-to-Wear Pocket Saree.”
The best selling sarees which you can wear in just 15 seconds and are ready to wear with pockets are priced at Rs.3,100. You can buy the sarees on the company’s site here.
The company’s revenue has steadily grown over the years—from ₹19 lakh in 2020–21 to ₹1.3 crore in 2023–24 (April–October). The sarees are priced between ₹3,100 and ₹6,000, offering a balance of affordability and premium quality. While many customers order through the brand’s website and Instagram, Aseem Shakti has expanded to Myntra and plans to enter other e-commerce platforms.
On Shark Tank India Season 4, Swati demonstrated the 15-second saree and amazed the sharks by pulling out multiple items from its pockets. She requested ₹50 lakh in exchange for 2.5% equity, valuing the company at ₹20 crore. While sharks Namita Thapar, Vinita Singh, Piyush Bansal, and Kunal Shah chose not to invest, Anupam Mittal made a counteroffer: ₹50 lakh for 10% equity through his company’s charity arm. Swati accepted the offer which valued her company at Rs.5 crore, and in a touching moment, Anupam even wore an Aseem saree while presenting the cheque.
Looking ahead, Swati has big plans for Aseem Shakti. She aims to empower over 100 women artisans in the next two years, expand the product line with new designs and innovations, and grow the company’s revenue to ₹10 crore by 2026. Aseem Shakti perfectly blends tradition with modernity, showing how even the most classic Indian garments can evolve to meet today’s needs.
