BCCI announced a 20 man squad with 4 standby players for this tour. Mohammad Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, Hanuma Vihari, are the big names returning to the longest format. Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Prithvi Shaw are the ones who have been dropped from the test team.

The 4 stand-by players in the Indian squad for the world test championship final and the 5 match tour against England are Prasidh Krishna, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Avesh Khan, and Arzan Nagwaswalla. 

India WTC Final Squad

Abhimanyu Easwaran has been a consistent performer in the domestic arena. Before a dip in his form, he was one of the top contenders for the Indian test team. He had scored 865 runs at an average of 95.66 in 2018-19 Ranji Trophy.

Prasidh Krishna has already made his ODI debut against England earlier this year. He picked 6 wickets in 3 games in his debut series. He has played 9 first-class games and has 34 wickets to his name at an average of 20.26. 

Avesh Khan had a great IPL 2021 before it got postponed, he picked 14 wickets in 8 games. He has played  26 First-Class games and has 100 wickets to his name at an average of 23.01. 

Arzan Nagwaswalla Bowling: Who is Arzan Nagwaswalla?

Arzan Nagwaswalla is an exciting young left hand medium-fast bowler from Gujarat who made his first-class debut for Gujarat in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy. He was with the Mumbai Indians as a net bowler in IPL 2021. He has been very impressive in the domestic circuit for the last couple of years.

Nagaswalla was selected for the Gujarat Ranji Team based on his performances in U-23 for the state. He has 62 wickets in First-Class games at an average of 22.53 and a strike rate of 44.6. In List A matches, he has 39 wickets in 20 games at an economy of 5.22. The Gujarat selector and now coach, Santosh Desai said that Arzan has been very promising in U-16s and U-19s.

 Nagwaswalla is not as fast as some of the other pacers in India but swing is his main weapon. Arzan was the second-highest wicket-taker of the 2020-21 Vijay Hazare Trophy with 19 wickets in 7 games at an economy of 4.32 and averaging 13.94. 

He brings variety to the Indian bowling attack with his left-arm angle to the, which is needed in the absence of T Natarajan who is recovering from injury. He can be a very good choice for India in case someone gets injured as the English conditions will suit him well.
