Arun Govilโs Family And Education
Govil is married to his love of life, actress Shrilekha and has two children namely Sonika and Amal. Arun got his education from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh where he studied engineering science and acted in several plays. Arun spent his teenage life in the city of Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. His father wanted him to become a government servant while Arun wanted to do something different.
Arun was born to Shri Chandra Prakash Govil and he was a government officer. Arun is the fourth of 6 brothers and 2 sisters. His elder brother Vijay Govil is married to Tabassum who is a former child actress and the host of the first Bollywood Celebrity talk show on Doordarshan Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan which continued for more than 20 years.
Arun Govil Professional Career
In 1975, Arun shifted to Mumbai to join his brother’s business there. After a very short while, Govil found that he no longer enjoyed the work and decided to find something more enjoyable. After doing dramas in college he decided to begin acting. Arun Govil got one of the first breaks in Indian cinema in 1977 with the film Paheli.
Arun Govil was introduced to Tarachand Barjatya by his sister-in-law Tabassum. Arun made his Bollywood debut in Prashanta Nanda’s Paheli in 1977. Arun Govil shot to stardom after he was cast in Kanak Mishra’s Sawan Ko Aane Do in 1979 and Satyen Bose’s Saanch Ko Aanch Nahin in 1979. Arun Govil made his small screen debut in Ramanand Sagar’s Vikram Aur Betaal in 1985.
Ramanand Sagar cast Govil as Vikramaditya in his TV series in Vikram Aur Betaal and Rama in the Ramayan. Arun Govil’s role as Rama offered him great exposure and led him to be cast in other main roles such as Harishchandra in the television series Vishwamitra or Buddha in the TV series Buddha. Arun Govil lent his voice as the character of Rama in Yugo Sako’s Indo-Japanese animation film Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama in 1992.
Arun also played the role of Laxman in V. Madhusudhana Rao’s Lav Kush in 1997.ย In 2020, Arun appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show as a guest along with Dipika Chikhlia, Sunil Lahri and Prem Sagar to promote a book on Late Ramanand Sagar
