Although Beterbiev fought aggressively throughout the initial rounds, Yarde’s mobility allowed himself to evade majority of the punches that annoyed the Russian champion, However, Yarde conceded some powerful punches in the third and fourth round, which caused him to lose his mouthpiece. Later in the fourth round, the Londoner showed signs of sluggishness proving that he was starting to feel fatigue from all the movement. In the fifth-round, Yarde lost his mouthpiece yet again but, a powerful right allowed him to regain some of the momentum.
Through the sixth round, Yarde tried his best to deliver his punches to Beterbiev and successfully did so as he rattled the champion with a powerful uppercut in the seventh-round. However, in his attempt to hit another uppercut during eighth-round, Yarde conceded a fatal right from Beterbiev that dropped the challenger to the canvas before his coach surrendered the match considering his pupil’s wellbeing.
